Garmin GPS Systems
Garmin GPS Systems are among the best and most reliable GPS sytems in the world...
What started out as a brainstorming session by a small group of engineers sitting around a card table in 1989, has
evolved into a worldwide company that produces GPS applications for vehicles, airplanes, boats, and any other vehicle or person needing a
navigation device.
Garmin's most popular and best selling GPS navigators are the "nuvi" models. Some of these best sellers include the nuvi
360, nuvi 205W, nuvi 255W, nuvi 780, nuvi 265W, nuvi 260W, nuvi 760, and nuvi 755T.
One of Garmin's main philosophies is to make GPS systems that is extremely easy for people to use, right out of the
box. Garmin's GPS interface has been a key to their success. They incorporate simple controls and sub-screens
making it easy to enter or search for trip destinations. When using the nuvi, all you have to do is touch the color
screen to enter your destination, and the nuvi will take you there with turn-by-turn voice directions and 2-D or 3-D continually updating
maps. This year, Garmin has even redesigned its interface to even be more user friendly.
Of all the models, the nuvi 360 continues to be among our favorites. You can see our review of the nuvi 360 on our homepage.
In addition to the nuvi 360, if you don't need something with all the bells and whistles, you really should take a look at
the Garmin nuvi 255W GPS.
Garmin's nuvi 255W improves upon its former 200 series predecessors. It includes some high end features such
as FM traffic updates. Improvements over the older models include faster satellite lock, a more informative and redesigned
screen, terrain maps, and a photo navigation feature. The 255W includes complete maps for North America and Text-to-Speech, so you can
get turn by turn spoken directions with the street names (instead of "turn right in 100 feet", it's now "turn right in 100 feet at Washington
Street").
All nuvi models have a sleek design that will fit easily and comfortably into your pocket (unless you have on some skin tight
"skinny" jeans!).
Another cool feature on the nuvi is the "screen lock" feature. This feature will lock the screen so you can avoid "accidental
touches".
The nuvi's faster 333 mhz processer has faster and smoother map drawing capabilities, including the vehicle icon while going through
turns. You can also send addresses directly to your Garmin nuvi from Mapquest or Google maps. There are also memory card
slots so you can add maps, guides, or store photos. You also get preloaded maps of North America and over 6 million searchable points of
interest. You can also find all emergency services that are nearby.
The rechargeable lithium ion battery goes for up to 4 hours per charge (less than the 8 hours with the nuvi 360).
Of all the Garmin GPS systems, the nuvi 255W is one of our low cost favorites. We've found the nuvi 255W for as low as $119.99!
